Waveguide Modelling Engineer (Graduate)

A rare opportunity for a graduate to collaborate with Optical, Waveguide and Software engineers to develop AR products.

If you are a recent graduate who enjoyed optics and python, then we have an opportunity for you.

The role:

  • You will be based in our Products & Capabilities team, an innovative team collaborating to deliver our AR displays
  • Based in our custom-built open plan office in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
  • You will apply in-house optical modelling technique for development of new product design, if you have a background in diffractive optics or electro-magnetics modelling this will enable you to pick up these problems
  • This is an opportunity to move into industry and work for a fast-paced start-up
  • You will be building knowledge from exceptional engineers and develop experience within diffractive optics
  • Support and training will be supplied however you will need to be proactive in your leaning
  • You will be part of our R&D team working on future innovation and delivering innovative products to the AR market
  • Supporting senior engineers on these activities while learning and developing to eventually lead some of these activities
  • Learn how to develop new optical modelling approaches
  • Scripting these activities in Python
  • Correlate modelled with measured results, to improve the fidelity and predictive power of models
  • Incorporate data from physical measurements of nanostructures into models (from SEM, AFM etc)
  • Our interview process will give you an overview of the type of work and an opportunity to meet our teams and see our product

Essential:

  • BSc or Masters in Theoretical Physics or Applied mathematics
  • Excelled in electromagnetic modelling
  • Keen to learn from senior engineers and happy to work in a team environment
  • Quick learner
  • Good experience of scripting python

Bonus

  • Had completed and engineering internship during studies
  • Interest or experience in Optics
  • Experience with diffractive optics
  • Understand of polarization
  • A relative masters project which included both scripting in Python and computational modelling aspect
