The Technical Program Manager works in conjunction with the New Production Introduction group as well as a multi-functional team. In this highly visible technical lead role, you will be the resident factory authority in manufacturing process, yields & UPH/OEE and overall factory readiness for mass production. Your outstanding ability to combine knowledge of Optics module, projector module manufacturing with mechanics and manufacturing process / process controls / Automation and deliver results on a tight timeline is a requirement.

The role

  • Where the role is based—Weifang, Shandong Province, China
  • Reporting to Manufacturing Director, China
  • responsibilities
    • Technical lead from WO in China for Module& Light engines
    • Work with Design/PE team in UK as well as with WO partner team in China
    • Drive the technical issues and trouble shootings found in the partner’s production line in China
    • Provide the suggestions or technical ideas back UK team to make products with more robust process
    • Be responsible for new product transfer, include production layout and process flow definition, equipment purchasing and acceptance, new sample production, PPAP report preparing
    • Be responsible for compilation of process document, include flow chart, working instruction, DFM review and reworking process.
    • Be responsible to set up of standard working time system and the compilation of relative document and determine the requirement of manpower
    • Improve process control, eliminate the potential quality/process issue in the production line.
    • Drive partner team for any documents needed for the production line from NPI phase to mass production phase
    • Steer overall program validation plan and manufacturing readiness criteria (KPIs)
    • Interact, integrate, and drive results across cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, production, production control, sales, service, etc.
    • Author weekly/as needed project status, summary, and issue resolution tracking reports
    • Various other activities as assigned to support NPI or MP phase
    • Participate in and lead various “cross functional” Program and Manufacturing Readiness forums. Provide clear updates on status and recovery plans as necessary at both working and executive level

What we like to see

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related technical field required (Master’s Degree in supporting field highly preferred)
  • Similar industries—Optical industry, Electronics, PCBA, product assembly, Moulding process, high tech, or other high volume/high complexity manufacturing in a similar capacity coupled with demonstration of exceptionable ability. Team player; ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with cross-functional teams
  • Personality—Self-motivated and managed, High sense of responsibility, Open, and flexible to handle urgent assignments.
  • Soft skills— Strong written and verbal communication skills. Well versed with common workplace software (word processor, spreadsheet, database, etc). Excellent organizational skills
  • IT Skills –Excellent skills on Microsoft office software, Minitab, CAD and any tools related to product/process engineering
  • Others—
    • Production Operations Knowledge – Has a firm understanding of how complex production lines operate including key items such as industrial workings between facilities/departments, line balance, OEE, error proofing, etc.
    • Background in manufacturing/industrial engineering required; supply chain highly desired
    • Understanding of how the manufacturing validation process runs in relation to complex new products that stretch across various engineer teams and manufacturing centers/factories (methodology, validation plans, associated KPIs)
    • Great understanding of design for manufacture, process design, process validation, and assembly methods
    • Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
    • Has a well-versed understanding of production line layout, flow, and modelling.
