As a Process Engineer you will investigate, troubleshoot and deliver new ways of manufacturing and delivering light engines (projectors) and modules. You will be working in an innovative environment solving challenges that support the development of next generation products

The role:

  • Due to continued growth and demand we are looking to appoint a Process Engineer who will be based at our Headquarters near Oxford, UK and report to the Director, Manufacturing Engineering
  • This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, dynamic operations team where you will be responsible for the technical support and delivery of our light engine and module designs and processes
  • The WaveOptics production line is based in Weifang, Shandong, China so the role will require frequent and regular visits there
  • WaveOptics also partners with suppliers in Europe which will also require frequent and regular visits
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer who can demonstrate great problem solving, communication and delivery
  • You will be responsible for:
    • technology transfer of light engine and module designs and processes and into our production line
    • new product introduction
    • process development to achieve robust, reliable processes with high yields and throughput
    • yield improvement
    • production volume ramp
    • problem solving and troubleshooting
    • definition of process flows and procedures
    • identification of equipment upgrades or improvements
    • other tasks which support the company manufacturing strategy

What we need to see:

  • Strong BSc or higher-level degree in Physics, Optics, Photonics or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience/background in product or process engineering
  • Strong technical background to be able to communicate across multi disciplines
  • Previous experience in NPI, from design concept through to production with preference in new technologies that do not have a typical process flow
  • Experience working in cleanrooms and in a volume manufacturing / production environment
  • Previous experience in optical devices (ie. telecoms), optical systems and assembly
  • Knowledge of optical component manufacturing – injection molding or glass fabrication and the tolerances involved would be an advantage
  • Appreciation of imaging characterisation (photometry, resolution eg. MTF) would be useful
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting
