The Role:

Reporting into our Head of Display Technologies, you will design, optimise and suggest necessary features for the MicroLED fabrication process based on GaN silicon. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver next generation AR technology

You will:

  • Work with the manufacturing centre
  • Design an integrated process flow for the fabrication of GaN on Silicon displays with scalability to 300mm wafers
  • Define all process splits during development and analyse the measured results
  • Work with the System Architect to provide the required display functionality and performance
  • Employ robust DOE techniques
  • Apply TCAD tools to the design of optimised process flows and apply TCAD tools to exercise the process boundaries
  • Work with the layout engineer and characterisation team to optimise the pixel architecture for performance and size
  • Specify test vehicle designs for process and pixel development
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, generate and agree the top-level project plan with all resources
  • Report the status of process and product developments at technical reviews


What we like to see:

  • Experience in the design of integrated process flows that deliver the required functionality, performance and reliability. This experience should be in the fabrication of Silicon bipolar/CMOS or MEMs devices and a knowledge of GaN/Si processing would be an advantage
  • The ability to interpret the optical and electrical characterisation of a microLED
  • The ability to design a component, pixel, that is manufacturable across the normal variations in semiconductor processing
  • Be able to specify test structures for the measurement of key performance parameters and for the determination of design rules
