The role

  • Reporting to the Head of Computational Group, based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
  • As part of a multidisciplinary R&D team you will be developing new optical modelling approaches and provide innovative solutions within a fast-paced environment.
  • Apply and evaluate different optimisation algorithm to the design of optical nanostructures for AR near-eye displays
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to develop or enhance modelling tools/approaches
  • Support Python scripting/programming activities within the team

What we like to see

  • Master or PhD degree in mathematics, physics, or engineering or equivalent industrial experience
  • Good understanding and experience with optimisation algorithm (e.g. Bayesian optimisation, evolutionary computation, neural networks)
  • Strong background of statistical modelling and numerical analysis
  • You will have great problem-solving with ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Familiar with Python/Matlab/C++
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail, team player

Bonus

  • Understanding of optical raytracing algorithms
  • Good understanding of optical diffraction and polarisation
