You will be customising or modifying designs so that the electronic sub-system may be incorporated into customer products. This will require awareness of certification of electronic subsystems and verification of the most harmful failure modes.

The role:

  • Reporting to the Principal Electronics Engineer, based in Abingdon, UK
  • Key part of the systems team, the role will be entail working with hardware for the AR market
  • Interface with external vendors and internal hardware, mechanical, manufacturing and software teams
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and identify root cause of system failures and communicate with the right team accordingly to solve these issues, whether this is in house or external
  • Build test jigs and use them to test and improve hardware characteristics such colour performance efficiency, temperature, full functionality, latency etc
  • Design test boards, and be responsible for the design to take it through manufacturing and bringup
  • Drive necessary discussion with external and internal teams on test specification and methodologies to improve test quality continuously
  • Support for other departments (mechanical, optics, etc) and clients when needed


What we like to see:

  • Previous experience with hardware, electronics and testing
  • Experience with analogue and digital electronics design
  • Strong verbal / written communication and reasoning skills
  • Ability to communicate across disciplines e.g. electronics, firmware etc
  • Ability to interpret and test to specifications, datasheets, schematics etc. from suppliers
  • Experience with using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers etc
  • Prototype modification experience
  • Knowledge of writing Software (e.g. test scripts in python) strongly preferred
  • Experience of electronic systems around display technology or wearables would be an advantage
