This is an excellent opportunity where you will have the opportunity to work with the best-in-class AR technology which is used around the globe. The role has great development and learning opportunity to work with a talented multi-skilled Systems Engineering team in Electronics and Firmware.

The role:

  • Reporting to the Lead Electronics Engineer, based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
  • You will have the opportunity to be involved in designing, customising and/or modifying designs so that the electronic sub-system may be incorporated into customer products
  • This is a broad technical role and includes the full product design lifecycle from requirements capture, detailed electronic design, testing, certification and in service support
  • Design, develop prototype, test, and ultimately deliver compact electronics technology (analogue, digital, mixed-signal and high speed)
  • Interface with external vendors and internal hardware, mechanical, manufacturing and software teams
  • Build testing jigs to characterise and improve our systems with regards to colour performance efficiency, temperature, functionality and latency
  • Oversee hardware projects from their conceptualisation to their production and manufacturing
  • Drive necessary discussion with external and internal teams on test specification and methodologies to improve test quality continuously
  • Offer systems support for other departments (mechanical, optics, etc) and clients when needed
  • Design, troubleshoot, diagnose, and identify root cause of system failures and communicate with the right team accordingly to solve these issues, whether this is in house or external

Essential:

  • Graduated with first class honours or 2:1 from a top University in Electronics Engineering or a similar degree
  • At least 2 years of experience designing hardware, electronics and/or testing systems
  • Experience with analogue and digital electronics design
  • Schematics capture and PCB design
  • Strong verbal / written communication and reasoning skills
  • Ability to communicate across different engineering disciplines
  • Ability to interpret datasheets, schematics, and technical information from related disciplines.
  • Experience with the use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, programmers, signal generators, power supplies, etc
  • Prototyping and SMD hand soldering experience
  • Proactive and keen to learn with an interest in developing their career within Augmented Reality technology

 

Desirable:

  • MSc in a relevant subject, e.g. electronic instrumentation, hardware design, wireless comms
  • Knowledge of writing Software (e.g. test scripts in python) strongly preferred
  • Experience of electronic systems around display technology or wearables would be an advantage; however, we will also consider people with the right experience looking to move into an Electronics Systems Engineering position
  • Experience with hardware design and implementation of RF, BLE, and/or WiFi technologies
  • Practical knowledge and experience working with low power FPGAs, ideally using VHDL
