Characterisation Engineer

The role:

  • This is an opportunity to work with a high calibre test team in our new start of the art facilities in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
  • You will be part of a team of 5 who are responsible for bring up, debug and characterisation of WaveOptics Augmented Reality waveguide and module product family
  • The Characterisation team are responsible for identifying, defining and delivering through to completion, the testing and metrology methods both for imaging and non-imaging systems (such as luminance, uniformity, colour, MTF, stray light) across manual and automated test regimes
  • You will support on a number of projects including a setup of a single interaction test station and also suggesting improvement where you see fit
  • Review and interpret characterisation results, and communicate findings across the development teams
  • You will keep updated on research activities internally & externally to empower you to develop innovative products to the AR market

What we like to see:

  • Degree in Optics, Photonics, Electronics or Engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience in laboratory work and in setting up of high quality and reliable optical measurement systems in a results-oriented environment
  • You will have a background in optics or have studied these areas at University in your degree
  • Ideally you will have experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW or Python
  • Hands on industry experience would be an advantage but not a requirement as long as you are enthusiastic and keen to learn
