WaveOptics were delighted to be selected to participate in Pitch@Palace 6, the finals of which were held at St James’ Palace on 2nd November. Established by The Duke of York in 2013, the competition offers the opportunity for Tech entrepreneurs to pitch their companies to a specially invited global audience drawn from industry, the media, education and finance.
Each Pitch@Palace has a different theme; the theme of Pitch@Palace 6 was Technology – perfectly suited to WaveOptics. CEO of WaveOptics, Sumanta Talukdar, pitched first at ‘Bootcamp’ which was held at the Harwell Space Campus in October. WaveOptics was then shortlisted from the initial list of 42 companies to pitch at the finals in front of the other businesses and a glittering array of entrepreneurs, alumni of Pitch@Palace and leaders from across business. They were particularly privileged on this occasion that HM The Queen also attended and was introduced to the CEOs of the shortlisted companies.
Pitch@Palace was an amazing opportunity for WaveOptics to showcase their augmented reality technology to individuals from across industry and many useful and interesting contacts were made. The event itself generates huge amounts of interest from the media and has been a stepping stone for many companies on their way to great things: Magic Pony (acquired by Twitter) and VocalIQ (acquired by Apple) are both Pitch@Palace alumni. WaveOptics were delighted to participate in Pitch@Palace and would highly recommend it to similar companies looking for a priceless opportunity to showcase their own new technology.
